NFL Roundup: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Affair

During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the late go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.

Defensive Performance Wins Game

Despite recording nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after giving up a safety in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards during the contest.

Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's short kick with just over five minutes remaining.

Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense

In spite of their dismal offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a potential winning score. But Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it rather than calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.

The Jets quarterback struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York finished with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," Glenn commented after the contest.
