Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the files to prohibit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the result of foul play, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
After the deaths, public figures offered divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an associate could have acted when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
