Dominant Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Season of High Performance
Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic £11m in prize money.
She garnered nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Other WTA Award Honorees
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
