Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
